Why did you join EWB?

I did a project in high school about EWB, and I thought it was really cool. Immediately after choosing Rutgers, I searched the EWB website to see if there was a chapter here, because I knew it was something I wanted to get involved in right away. When I went to the involvement fair freshman year, I met some of the project leads who were so excited about what they were doing that I knew I had to become part of it.

Why did you stay?

I got emotionally invested in the project right away, and it amazed me how we could make a real impact on people from so far away. I loved the idea that I was going to classes, learning something, and immediately using it to help others. On top of all that, EWB gave me a great support system and a lot of role models to look up to, which makes college so much easier. I couldn’t imagine not being part of EWB.

How has EWB helped you?

It taught me a lot about myself and about engineering in general. I learned a lot about working with people and working towards a goal. It’s given me confidence in myself and my abilities throughout the years, and overall it’s been a great place to be myself and do what I love.
